Online Booking Inquiry. What Happened.

May 30, 2018

Today I got an email from a potential client from an online booking service (think Angie's List for entertainers).

Hello James, I apologize for the extreme delay and unprofessional handling of this situation . I'm very disappointed with the

board's approach to planning this conference especially when I was specifically asked for help. They changed their meeting

times on multiple occasions and once they found a workable date, I was out of town. Unfortunately, my calls and emails have

not been returned. It is extremely disheartening and therefore, I have decided to step away from assisting. I apologize for how

this has been handled. When I commit to a project, I conduct myself in a much more organized and professional manner than

I have been able to do this time. I hope you have a wonderful summer! Best, Laura

What usually happens is people (volunteers) do a google search for a certain type of entertainment they believe they want. Since online agencies like gigmasters and gigsalad rank high, people click. Then they get quotes from several entertainers who do what they're looking for.

I'm not quite sure what happens after that. Usually, unless I'm booked (or someone else on those sites is) I never here a thing... crickets.

So it's nice when someone takes the time to let me know why I never heard back. Things happen, but remember, we're running a business, and common business courtesy is appreciated.
