A Show I Didn't Do

Dec 17, 2016

A while back I got an inquiry for a company holiday party in Colorado. In La Junta from what I recall. It was a company that manufactured lockers for gyms, country clubs and the like. Nice looking high quality products, from what I could tell by looking at their website.

They contacted me through an online booking agency where people "bid" on gigs. I bid my usual in-state company party fee, sent the contact a free copy of my event planning ebook and never heard back.

A little later I emailed her and asked what was going on with their event. She was a little cryptic about what sort of entertainment they went with, but she did tell me that "you were too expensive."

I emailed her back:

"I understand. I'm sure many prospective clients looking for high quality items like the ones you manufacture find them to be out of their budget. And some of them probably go with a cheaper option, which may or may not work out in the long run.

I'm wishing you a great event, but if you find that you want to go with something maybe a little more expensive but higher quality in the future, I will be happy to help you plan your event."

Next year, maybe.
